I had the chance to see these guys a Year ago and had a really good time. These guys get the crowd going. If
you get a chance go see their show. You'll have a real good time!
Shagadelics! Oh Yeah, BABY!
The Dutchess thought I was nuts when I bought two tickets to see these guys. Some of the best money I have ever spent! Really great show, but do yourself a favor Get tickets as close to the stage as you can get. Big and Rich interact with the fans close to the stage more than most acts I have seen! BTW, the Dutchess enjoyed the show! Now all I need do is is get her to "Save a Horse and Ride a Cowboy".
Cowboy Troy was also the opening act. I felt the audio techs didn't control his preformance very well. It was too loud to understand him all that well. I knew the songs, and that helped me kinda know what he was singing, but the Dutchess kept asking.... What? What?
And yes folks, he does exist and he started the show........... Two Foot Fred
Here is one for the ladies. I took the Dutchess to see Frankie Avalon. Ahhhhhh the Dutchess still thinks he is sooooooooooooo cute. I would send you to FrankieAvalon.com but that is only a place to buy stuff with little info about Frankie Avalon, so I found this website that gives a more interesting history of this first teen heart throb:
I have see Lou Christie preform several times in my life. I first saw him at The Moondog Coronation Ball in Cleveland Ohio and Later in Youngstown Ohio. Never am I disapponted as I really like Falsetto singing. Women still toss their clothes up to him on stage! He is one of the most powerful acts you could see, he still has the same great voice. Check out the second link below for recording of Pledging My Love.
Here is the web site for the legendary Lesley Gore. If you go to here site, you can hear a couple of new songs she has done. She has a great show too!
The Grass Roots! Man what a band! I had the oprotunity to meet the current band go out with them when they did a show for WZKL during the Pro Football HOF festivities. They all signed my Grass Roots CD. Other than my mementos from our brave soldiers, this is one of my cherished treasures. The Grass Roots hold records in a number of musical categories like the Largest US audience for a single act. Many artists moved in and out of the bands line-up. While the original members, Creed Bratton (who was later replaced by Dennis Provisor) , Warren Entner, Rick Coonce, and Rob Grill no longer preform together, Rob Grill with three others now tour as the Grass Roots. They still have a great show. Creed can be seen on TVs “Office”. Coonce recently retired as a child protection social worker in Canada, but still writes songs. Provisor now has a band called “The Hits”. Entner currently has his own artist management company “Warren Entner Management”
They all have a website, but the site run by Grill is the one used by the current Grass Roots.
When I first became a radio personality, I started my shows by playing Gene Chandlers Duke of Earl. When your name is Earl, you get linked to songs like this very easily. So I called myself The Duke of Earl. As time went on, people said when they heard that Duke of Earl announcement, they were not sure if I was referring to myself or the song. Another incident at a hot air balloon show taught me not to use my real name any longer. Looking for a radio name and radio nickname wasn't hard. Both names had been part of my life since I couldn't remember when. I went on the Air for the first time as Earl Chandler, The Duke of Rock and Roll. The station manager also called me the Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla. Today I still hold the moniker Earl, The Duke of Rock and Roll. Now you know where the name comes from.
Enough about me, Gene Chandler is quite the showman. I saw him at a Moondog Ball in Cleveland a few years ago. I tried to get him to sign my Duke of Earl jacket but couldn't get close enough. I hope to see him preform again, it is worth the money!
When you first log into my website you hear a song from Danny and the Juniors... Rock and Roll is Here to Stay! I believe it will never die. Danny Rapp has moved on to the Rock and Roll Heaven, but Frank Maffei, Joe Terranova and Dave White still do shows and are celebrating 50 years together as a group. I saw them long ago at Malone College. They still keep you Rockin' at the Hop.
If you want someone in Rock and Roll to count on, count on Gary Lewis and the Playboys. When you are the son of an entertainment giant (Jerry Lewis) you have very big shoes to fill. Gary Lewis doesn't have to fill anyones shoes, he is giant in his own right. I saw Gary Lewis and the Playboys at the Glory Road Concert in Massillon Ohio. Every act on that bill was cool!
He still is rockin around America, check out his tour dates.
